Ariano, A. A.; Lam, Yee-Lay Jack (1976). French-Language Instruction: A Closer Look at Schools in Southwestern Manitoba, Prairie Forum. The study assessed intra-school factors that seemed to be related to the sharp enrollment decline in French-language classes in southwestern Manitoba. Questionnaires were distributed to all French-language teachers and principals in 78 elementary and secondary schools in 14 school divisions and school districts. Dupas, J. C. (1975). La langue regionale en Flandre francaise: un cas particulier (Regional Language in French Flanders: A Special Case), Langue Francaise. Sketches the history of usage of the dialect; the meager results of a survey of schools offering programs in Flemish tend to confirm that it receives little consideration, and that there is difficulty even in defining dialectal limits. Cites recent investigation of the acquisition of bilingualism in young children containing further evidence that they learn two languages in the same way that the monolingual child learns one. Lamont, D.; And Others (1978). Evaluation of the Second Year of a Bilingual (English-Ukrainian) Program, Canadian Modern Language Review. A description of the English-Ukrainian bilingual program in the primary grades of the Edmonton Public Schools. Objectives and evaluative criteria are given. Results show no significant difference between regular and bilingual classes in standardized test scores. Children learned a significant amount of Ukrainian. Cowan, J. Ronayne; Sarmad, Zohreh (1976). Reading Performance of Bilingual Children According to Type of School and Home Language, Language Learning. This study examined bilingual children's performance in reading Persian and English at grades one, three, and six.
