Navarro, Jay; And Others (1997). Substance Abuse and Spirituality: A Program for Native American Students, American Journal of Health Behavior. This report describes an innovative program to prevent substance abuse among Native American students that was implemented at the Institute for American Indian Arts in Santa Fe (New Mexico). The program emphasized traditional values, history, and spirituality to enhance self-esteem. It involved readings, classroom discussions, Native American ceremonies, and student projects. Powell, John H., Jr.; And Others (1973). The Southwest Indian Report. A Report of the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights, May 1973. The investigation of civil rights violations for American Indians in Arizona and New Mexico covers Federal, state, and local employment; elementary, secondary, and higher education; and health needs, especially the Indian Health Service. It also discusses urban and reservation administration of justice and water rights. de la Cruz, Jesse (1976). Rejection Because of Race: Albert J. Beveridge and Nuevo Mexico's Struggle for Statehood, 1902-1903, Aztlan. Senator Beveridge led the opposition to statehood for New Mexico and Arizona. The statehood measure possessed all the necessary requirements for passage, yet it failed. Pro-nuclear power "educational materials" designed or promoted by energy and utility companies lack objectivity about alternative energy resources. Cohen, Stu; And Others (1997). Barriers to Physician Identification and Treatment of Family Violence: Lessons from Five Communities, Academic Medicine. A study involving over 480 interviews in five diverse communities (Atlanta, Georgia; Duluth, Minnesota; Providence, Rhode Island; Riverside, California; Roswell, New Mexico) identified barriers facing physicians and other health care providers in identifying, treating, and referring victims of family violence, and illuminated the relationships of health care systems with other key sectors, including agencies and the legal system. Montoya, Joseph M. (1973). Bilingual-Bicultural Education: Making Equal Educational Opportunities Available to National Origin Minority Students, Georgetown Law Journal. Gordon, Larry J. (1976). Growth and Environmental Quality, Journal of Environmental Health. The author suggests that numbers and distribution of people should be given highest priority in dealing with environmental quality. Segalman, Ralph (1968). Army of Despair: The Migrant Worker Stream. Migration patterns in Texas, Florida, California, the Southeastern States, and elsewhere are examined through official reports, statistical data, migrant statistics at rest camps, migrant children's registrations in New Mexico, conversations, and informal observations.
