Cummins, James (1978). Immersion Programs: The Irish Experience, International Review of Education. This paper examines the evidence on negative effects associated with Irish immersion programs and concludes that even in earlier immersion schools, which frequently lacked parental support, there is little evidence of detrimental academic effects. Florio, David H. (1981). Questioning the Federal Role in Educational Research, Educational Researcher. Reviews the Reagan administration's proposed budget cuts for education, educational research, and social science research. Yabar-Dextre, Pompeyo (1978). On the Problem of Choosing the Language of Instruction in a Multi-Lingual Setting–The Situation in Peru, International Review of Education. An element seen to be lacking in the development of bilingual programs in California is a sensitivity to the sociolinguistic and psychological influences in Chicano language usage. Rodrigues, Raymond J. (1980). Bilingual and Monolingual English Syntax on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, Research in the Teaching of English. Reports on a study of the oral and written English syntax of both Gaelic/English bilingual and English monolingual fourth- and ninth-grade students on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland.
