Ashworth, Mary (1977). The English as a Second Language Program and the School Counselling Service, School Guidance Worker. In her survey of 175 adult immigrants, the author found that very few of the respondents had received bilingual help from local schools or English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. The importance of ESL teachers and school counselors in helping children and parents learn a second language is stressed. McDougall, A.; Bruck, M. (1976). English Reading within the French Immersion Program: A Comparison of the Effects of the Introduction of English Reading at Different Grade Levels, Language Learning. A study of the French immersion program in Quebec, in which English reading is introduced in some schools at Grade 2 and in some at Grade 3. Cummins, James (1977). Cognitive Factors Associated with the Attainment of Intermediate Levels of Bilingual Skills, Modern Language Journal. Studies of bilingual children have debated the effect of bilingualism on cognitive development. This study examines the relationship between cognitive processes and balanced bilingual skills. Muller, L. J.; And Others (1977). Evaluation of a Bilingual (English-Ukrainian) Program, Canadian Modern Language Review. This article is an evaluation of a bilingual program for first in five Edmonton public schools. Derrick, June (1973). The Language Needs of Immigrant Children, London Educational Review. Miller, Martin (1976). Comparative Language Tests in the Bilingual School in Cameroon, English Language Teaching Journal. Comparative language tests in English and French were given to pupils of the Bilingual School, Buea, Republic of Cameroon, to measure the extent of bilingualism. Offenberg, Robert M. (1972). The Effect of Internal Accountability on the Development of a Bilingual Program, Education. Dearmin, Evalyn Titus (1977). Project Paiute, Journal of American Indian Education.
